High severity Hardware Code: B200 Canon

Canon error B200 (printhead)

B200 on Canon PIXMA models indicates a printhead problem — often overheating, a clog, or an electrical fault. Cleaning and reseating the printhead resolves many cases.

Symptoms

  • "Error B200" / "P10"
  • Printer stops and won't print
  • Sometimes after a clog or refill

Likely causes

  • Overheated or clogged printhead
  • Faulty printhead electronics
  • Old/empty cartridges
  • Power surge during a job

How to fix it — step by step

Work through these in order; most people are fixed by the first two or three.

Power reset

Turn the printer off, unplug for 5–10 minutes, then power on. This alone clears some B200s.

Remove and clean the printhead

Open the cover, remove the cartridges, then lift out the printhead. Rinse the nozzle area and contacts with warm distilled water, dry fully (30+ min), and reinstall.

Reseat firmly

Lock the printhead back in place and reinsert cartridges until they click.

Replace if needed

If B200 returns, the printhead is likely failing and needs replacement (often the practical fix on low-cost models is a new printer).
