Medium severity Connectivity Code: Won't Connect Wi-Fi Canon

Canon PIXMA won't connect to Wi-Fi

A Canon printer fails to join Wi-Fi or isn't found by the Canon PRINT app / ij.start.canon setup. Band and setup-mode issues are most common.

Symptoms

  • Wi-Fi setup fails
  • App can't find the printer
  • Wi-Fi lamp won't stay on

Likely causes

  • Trying to use 5GHz
  • WPS/Cableless setup not triggered
  • Guest network isolation
  • Wrong Wi-Fi password

How to fix it — step by step

Work through these in order; most people are fixed by the first two or three.

Use 2.4GHz

Connect to the 2.4GHz band; most PIXMA models don't support 5GHz.

Use Cableless / WPS setup

From the printer's Wireless LAN setup, start "Cableless setup" (with the Canon app) or WPS push-button if your router supports it.

Re-run ij.start.canon

Run the official setup from ij.start.canon for your model and follow the guided Wi-Fi steps.

Check password & network

Re-enter the Wi-Fi key carefully and avoid guest networks during setup.
