How it works
The printer creates its own private Wi-Fi network that your phone or laptop joins directly. You can print even if the printer isn't connected to your home Wi-Fi — useful for visitors or in a pinch.
How to connect
- Enable Wi-Fi Direct in the printer's network settings and note its Wi-Fi Direct name and password.
- On your device, open Wi-Fi settings and join the network named DIRECT-xx-YourPrinter.
- Enter the Wi-Fi Direct password (shown on the printer or printed on a network page).
- Print as usual and select the printer.
Things to know
- While connected to Wi-Fi Direct, your device usually loses normal internet over Wi-Fi.
- It's great for occasional printing, not as a permanent setup.
- Change the default Wi-Fi Direct password for better security.
