Privacy Policy
This policy explains what PrinterSupport.io collects, why, and what you can do about it. It applies to this website and to our remote-support service.
What we collect
- Analytics data. We record page visits using a self-hosted analytics system. This captures the page requested, a truncated IP address, browser and operating system, referring page and approximate country. We use it to understand which guides are useful.
- Information you submit. If you post a comment, ask a question, leave a review, subscribe to updates or use the contact form, we store what you send, along with the email address you supply and the IP address the submission came from (for spam prevention).
- Account data. If you create an account, we store your name, email address and a securely hashed password. We never store passwords in a readable form.
- Support-session data. If you use our remote-support service, we record what the problem was and what we did, so that we have a history if you contact us again.
What we do not collect
We do not ask for, want, or store payment card numbers, bank credentials, government identification numbers, or passwords to any service other than your account on this site. During a remote-support session we will never ask you to log in to banking, and no legitimate support service ever will.
Cookies
We use a session cookie to keep you logged in and to protect forms against cross-site request forgery, and a small local preference to remember whether you chose light or dark mode. If advertising is enabled on the site, our advertising partners may set their own cookies; you can control these through your browser settings and through the advertising provider's own preference tools.
Advertising
We may display advertising supplied by third-party networks, including Google. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits. You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info.
How long we keep it
Analytics records are retained for 26 months. Comments, questions and reviews remain published until you ask us to remove them. Contact messages are kept for 24 months. Account data is kept until you delete your account.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with the service providers needed to run the site — our hosting provider, our email delivery provider, and any advertising network we display — and only to the extent required for them to perform that function. We may disclose information where legally compelled to do so.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or erased, to object to or restrict its processing, to receive it in a portable form, and to withdraw consent. Residents of California may request disclosure of the categories of personal information collected and may opt out of its sale — we do not sell personal information. To exercise any of these rights, email help@printersupport.io and we will respond within 30 days.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS. Passwords are hashed with a modern algorithm, form submissions are protected against cross-site request forgery, and database queries use prepared statements. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures appropriate to the data we hold.
Changes
If we change this policy materially we will update the date shown on this page and, where the change is significant, note it on the site. Questions go to help@printersupport.io.
