Panasonic KX-MB2061: Setup, Drivers, Ink and Common Problems

Mono laser Released 2012 Legacy Around $349 new

A wireless variant of the KX-MB2030 with a 30-sheet feeder, the KX-MB2061 was aimed at small offices that did not want to run a cable to the printer. The 2.4 GHz radio is old and struggles with mixed-band routers, which is the single most common complaint from owners today. Otherwise it behaves exactly like the KX-MB2030, including the frozen driver situation and the modest 2,000-page toner.

Setting up the Panasonic KX-MB2061

Join Wi-Fi from the panel's network menu or with WPS; the radio is 2.4 GHz only, so give the 2.4 GHz band its own SSID if your router combines bands. Install Multi-Function Station and select the wireless LAN option so PC scanning and PC fax are configured at the same time. If the printer keeps dropping off, reserve its IP in the router and disable any band-steering or client-isolation feature on the guest network.

  1. Unbox and prepare. Remove every piece of shipping tape and packing material, install the toner cartridge and drum unit, and load paper in the tray.
  2. Join your Wi-Fi. Keep the printer close to the router for setup. Most printers only connect to the 2.4GHz band, so if your router broadcasts one merged network name you may need to split the bands temporarily. See our Wi-Fi guide if it will not join.
  3. Install the setup app. Use Panasonic's official app rather than a driver you found on a search result — third-party driver sites are the most common source of printer malware.
  4. Add the printer. On Windows 11: Settings › Bluetooth & devices › Printers & scanners › Add device. On macOS: System Settings › Printers & Scanners › Add Printer.
  5. Print a test page and run a scan if this is an all-in-one, so you find any problem now rather than when you are in a hurry.

Ink, toner and supplies

The Panasonic KX-MB2061 uses the following consumables. Match the number exactly when you buy: the same printer family often uses several different cartridge numbers by region.

  • Panasonic KX-FAT411 toner (2,000 pages)
  • KX-FAD412 drum unit (6,000 pages)

High-yield (XL) versions almost always cost less per page if you print regularly. On third-party ink and toner, read our honest assessment first, and note that some manufacturers push firmware that rejects non-original chips.
