FlashPrint and Orca-Flashforge Download and Setup Guide
Flashforge's slicers, with a newer Orca-based option for recent printers

Flashforge ships two different slicers, which confuses new owners. FlashPrint is the long-standing application covering most of the range, including older Adventurer, Creator and Finder printers and Flashforge resin machines through a separate build. Orca-Flashforge is newer, derived from OrcaSlicer, and is the one intended for the Adventurer 5M, AD5X and Guider 4. Both are free and downloaded from Flashforge's software download centre. Picking the right one for your printer matters more than picking the newer version.
Version and licence: Free. Flashforge now publishes two slicers: FlashPrint 5.8.7, the long-standing one, and the newer Orca-Flashforge 1.5.1, which is OrcaSlicer-derived and intended for the Adventurer 5M, AD5X and Guider 4. Choose based on your printer rather than by version number.

How to install it
Step 1
Check which slicer your printer needs; the Adventurer 5M, AD5X and Guider 4 use Orca-Flashforge, and most other models use FlashPrint.
Step 2
Open the Flashforge software download centre and download the correct one for your operating system.
Step 3
Install it, approving it in System Settings, Privacy and Security on macOS if it is blocked.
Step 4
Select your printer model and nozzle size in the setup so the correct profile loads.
Step 5
Choose the filament profile matching what you have loaded.
Step 6
Import a model, arrange it on the plate and slice.
Step 7
Inspect the preview for supports and the first layer, then export or send over the network.
Step 8
For enclosed printers, set the chamber and bed temperatures appropriately for the material, since these machines behave differently from open-frame ones.
Which printers it supports
Flashforge FDM 3D printers. FlashPrint covers most of the range including Adventurer 3 and 4, Creator and Finder models, while Orca-Flashforge targets the Adventurer 5M, AD5X and Guider 4.
When FlashPrint and Orca-Flashforge will not work
Match it to the printer. Adventurer 5M, AD5X and Guider 4 use Orca-Flashforge. Most other Flashforge models use FlashPrint.
Check the other slicer, since the two cover different machines. If the printer is a resin model, Flashforge publishes separate resin software rather than using FlashPrint.
The printer must be on the same network with its network feature enabled. Check the printer's IP address on its screen and add it manually if discovery fails.
Enclosed printers hold heat, which helps ABS and ASA but hurts PLA. Open the door and lid for PLA, and keep the chamber closed for ABS and ASA to reduce warping.
It is derived from OrcaSlicer, so the layout and terminology differ considerably. OrcaSlicer guidance mostly applies, including the calibration tests.
