OrcaSlicer Download and Setup Guide
Community slicer with strong calibration tools and broad printer support
Representative photo — Creative Tools CC BY 2.0
OrcaSlicer is a community-developed slicer descended from Bambu Studio and, further back, PrusaSlicer. It has become popular for two reasons: a strong set of built-in calibration tests for flow rate, pressure advance, temperature and retraction, and support for a very wide range of printers from different manufacturers in one application. It is free and open source. Two practical warnings: the GitHub organisation moved to OrcaSlicer/OrcaSlicer, and the project has publicly warned about look-alike domains such as orca-slicer.com and orcaslicer.net, so check where you are downloading from.
Version and licence: Free and open source. Version 2.4.2 as of July 2026, at about 131 MB on Windows, 235 MB on macOS and 130 MB on Linux. The GitHub organisation has moved to OrcaSlicer/OrcaSlicer, and the project warns about look-alike domains including orca-slicer.com and orcaslicer.net, so use orcaslicer.com or the Microsoft Store listing. About 131 MB on Windows, 235 MB on macOS, 130 MB on Linux.

How to install it
Step 1
Download from orcaslicer.com or the Microsoft Store listing, avoiding look-alike domains such as orca-slicer.com and orcaslicer.net.
Step 2
Install it, approving it in System Settings, Privacy and Security on macOS if it is blocked.
Step 3
Run the setup wizard and select your printer model and nozzle size.
Step 4
Choose the filament profiles for the materials you have.
Step 5
Run the calibration tests for your filament, starting with flow rate and pressure advance; this is where OrcaSlicer earns its reputation.
Step 6
Import a model, arrange it and slice.
Step 7
Inspect the preview, checking supports, seams and the first layer.
Step 8
Export the G-code or configure network sending to your printer host.
Which printers it supports
A very wide range of FDM printers, including Bambu Lab, Creality, Prusa, Voron, Elegoo, Anycubic, Sovol and many Klipper-based machines.
When OrcaSlicer will not work
Use orcaslicer.com or the Microsoft Store listing. The project has warned publicly about look-alike domains including orca-slicer.com and orcaslicer.net, which are not official.
The organisation moved to OrcaSlicer/OrcaSlicer. Old links pointing at the previous location will not resolve.
Run the flow rate calibration, then the pressure advance test, then check the extrusion multiplier. OrcaSlicer includes these tests specifically because they fix most dimensional and surface finish problems.
Choose the correct host type in the printer settings, whether Klipper via Moonraker, Bambu, PrusaLink or OctoPrint, and enter the address and any API key. The wrong host type is the most common cause.
Decide between LAN-only mode with the access code from the printer screen, and cloud mode with a Bambu account. Recent Bambu firmware also has authorisation settings that must permit third-party slicers.
