CHITUBOX is the resin slicer bundled with Elegoo's MSLA printers and with resin printers from many other manufacturers. It orients and hollows models, adds supports, adds drain holes and slices the result into the layer images and exposure settings a resin printer needs. The free Basic edition covers everything most hobbyists need, and the paid Pro edition adds advanced support generation, better hollowing and analysis tools. It is developed by CBD-Tech, not by Elegoo, which is why it appears across many brands.
Version and licence: CHITUBOX Basic is free; CHITUBOX Pro is a paid product. It is made by CBD-Tech rather than by Elegoo, and it is bundled with Elegoo resin printers as well as many other MSLA machines from different manufacturers.

How to install it
Step 1
Download CHITUBOX Basic from the CHITUBOX download page for your operating system.
Step 2
Install it and approve it in System Settings, Privacy and Security on macOS if it is blocked.
Step 3
Select your resin printer from the machine list so the correct resolution and file format load.
Step 4
Load a resin profile matching what you will use, or enter the exposure times from the resin bottle.
Step 5
Import the model, orient it at an angle rather than flat to reduce suction forces and layer lines.
Step 6
Hollow the model if it is solid, and add drain holes so uncured resin can escape.
Step 7
Add supports, then check the island detection for unsupported areas before slicing.
Step 8
Slice and export to a USB drive in the format your printer expects, then run an exposure test before a long print.
Which printers it supports
Elegoo resin printers including the Mars and Saturn ranges, plus MSLA resin printers from many other manufacturers that use CHITUBOX-compatible file formats.
When CHITUBOX will not work
Usually suction forces or insufficient supports. Orient the model at an angle, hollow it with drain holes, add more supports to overhanging areas and slow the lift speed in the printer settings.
Exposure depends on the resin, the printer and the ambient temperature. Print a validation or exposure test model first and adjust the layer exposure from that, rather than trusting a generic profile.
Check whether the manufacturer supplies a CHITUBOX profile, or whether it uses its own slicer. Some printers use proprietary file formats that only their own software produces.
Basic is free and covers hobby use. Pro adds advanced supports, better hollowing and analysis tools, and is worth it only if you print resin regularly and are fighting support failures.
Hollowing without drain holes traps uncured resin, which can burst the model later. Always add at least two drain holes, placed so resin can flow out in the print orientation.

No. It is a resin slicer. FDM printers need a slicer such as OrcaSlicer, PrusaSlicer or Cura.
