Ink Absorber NearFull is the advance warning that the pad catching waste ink inside the machine is approaching its capacity. The printer keeps working normally while this message shows, so nothing needs to happen today. What it gives you is planning time, and what you do between now and the hard stop makes a genuine difference to how long that takes.

How to fix it, in order

Carry on printing but stop the unnecessary cleans
The single biggest driver of absorber fill is head cleaning. Before running any cleaning cycle, print a Print Quality Check page from Menu, then Ink, then Test Print. Clean only the colour group that is actually showing gaps, and never run more than two cycles in a row before letting the machine rest.
Leave the machine switched on
Each cold start runs a small purge to prime the head, so a machine switched off and on five times a day fills its absorber faster than one left on standby. Modern Brother inkjets draw very little in standby, and leaving it on also keeps the head from drying between jobs.
Print a light page every few days
A single page with a small block of each colour keeps the nozzles wet and prevents the clogs that lead to recovery cleaning. This costs a trivial amount of ink compared with the cleaning cycles it avoids, and it is the most effective habit for extending absorber life.
Use ink that flows properly
Poorly formulated third-party ink clogs more readily, which means more cleaning cycles, which fills the absorber faster. If you have had recurring quality problems on compatible cartridges, switching back to genuine Brother LC cartridges often reduces the cleaning frequency noticeably.
Find out what the hard stop will cost
