The MUNBYN Print App drives MUNBYN's thermal label printers from a phone, covering shipping labels, barcode labels and simple text labels. It includes label templates, barcode and QR code generation and the ability to print a PDF shipping label at the correct 4 by 6 inch size. Connection is over Bluetooth or Wi-Fi depending on the model. As with most thermal label printers, the two things that go wrong are calibration and paper size, and both are set from the app or the printer's feed button.

Version and licence: Free. iOS version 3.0.7 at about 169.8 MB. MUNBYN sells both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi models, so check which connection your printer uses before setting up, as the app path differs. About 169.8 MB on iOS.

What it does

  • Print 4 by 6 inch shipping labels from PDFs
  • Label templates for barcode, price and address labels
  • Barcode and QR code generation
  • Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connection depending on model
  • Print density and speed settings
  • Batch printing of multiple labels
  • Label calibration from within the app on supported models

How to install it

  1. Step 1

Load 4 by 6 inch labels with the thermal side facing the print head and switch the printer on.

  2. Step 2

Install the MUNBYN Print App from the App Store or Google Play.

  3. Step 3

For a Bluetooth model, enable Bluetooth and grant the app Bluetooth permission; for Wi-Fi, connect the phone to the same network.

  4. Step 4

Open the app and let it search for the printer, then select your model.

  5. Step 5

Run the calibration function so the printer learns the label length and gap.

  6. Step 6

Set the label size to 4 by 6 inches, or 100 by 150 mm, in the print settings.

  7. Step 7

Print one label as a test before running a batch, checking it fills the label with no scaling.

Which printers it supports

MUNBYN thermal label printers, including the USB, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi shipping label models and MUNBYN receipt printers on some versions of the app.

When MUNBYN Print App will not work

The app cannot find the printer

Grant Bluetooth permission on iOS or nearby-device permission on Android, and confirm which connection your model uses. A USB-only printer cannot be reached from a phone at all and needs a computer.

Labels skip or feed blank

Run the calibration routine, either from the app or by holding the feed button as the manual describes, so the printer learns the label length and gap. Blank labels also result from loading the roll with the thermal side facing away from the head.

Labels print at the wrong size

Set the label size to 100 by 150 mm in the app's print settings and turn off any scale-to-fit option. A shipping PDF printed at A4 scale shrinks into a corner.

Print is faint

Increase the print density in the app settings, use genuine direct thermal label stock, and clean the print head with an alcohol swab when the printer is cold.

The Bluetooth connection keeps dropping

Keep the phone within a few metres, remove and re-pair the printer in the phone's Bluetooth settings, and avoid running other Bluetooth audio devices at the same time, which competes for bandwidth.

Frequently asked questions

Does it work with a USB-only MUNBYN printer?

No. A USB printer needs a computer. The app is for Bluetooth and Wi-Fi models.

What label size should I use?

4 by 6 inches, or 100 by 150 mm, for shipping labels. Set it explicitly rather than relying on the default.

Why do my labels come out blank?

Almost always the roll is loaded with the thermal coating facing away from the print head, or the printer needs calibrating.
