Official source only. Every link on this page goes to Pantum or an official app store. Printer-driver search results are a common malware vector, so never install a "driver updater" from an ad.

The iOS app for Pantum printers is listed on the App Store under just the brand name, PANTUM, which is why searching for the Android name finds nothing. It handles wireless setup, printing, scanning from all-in-one models and toner status. Two things are worth knowing before installing: it is very large at close to 600 MB, and its last update was May 2024, so it is not receiving frequent development. For straightforward printing, AirPrint works on most current Pantum models without any app at all.

Version and licence: Free. Version 1.3.329, and an unusually large app at about 585.9 MB. The last update was May 2024, so it is not being actively developed. The App Store listing is simply PANTUM, not Pantum Mobile Print, which is the Android name. About 585.9 MB.

What it does

  • Wireless setup for a new Pantum printer from an iPhone or iPad
  • Print documents and photos from the phone
  • Scan from Pantum all-in-one models
  • Toner status display
  • Wi-Fi Direct connection to the printer
  • Printer settings including network configuration

How to install it

  1. Step 1

Search the App Store for PANTUM rather than Pantum Mobile Print, since the iOS listing uses just the brand name.

  2. Step 2

Check you have space, because the app is close to 600 MB.

  3. Step 3

Switch the printer on and leave it in wireless setup mode if it is new.

  4. Step 4

Connect the iPhone to the 2.4 GHz network the printer will use.

  5. Step 5

Open the app and allow the local network permission, without which nothing is discovered.

  6. Step 6

Add the printer by discovery or by joining its Wi-Fi Direct network first.

  7. Step 7

Enter the Wi-Fi password so the app can pass it to the printer, then print a test page.

Which printers it supports

Pantum wireless laser printers and all-in-ones, including the P2500W, M6500 and M6600 series and current BM and CM models.

When PANTUM (iOS app) will not work

I cannot find the app on the App Store

Search for PANTUM on its own. The Android name, Pantum Mobile Print and Scan, does not match the iOS listing.

The app will not download

At around 586 MB it is large, so free up space and download over Wi-Fi. iOS also blocks very large downloads on some cellular plans.

It cannot find the printer

Allow the local network permission in iOS Settings for the app, turn off any VPN, and connect to the 2.4 GHz band since most Pantum models have no 5 GHz radio.

The app feels dated or unreliable

Its last update was May 2024, so development is slow. For everyday printing, AirPrint works on most current Pantum models with no app at all; keep the app for setup and scanning.

Scanning does not work

Only all-in-one models scan, and the printer must be connected over the normal network rather than Wi-Fi Direct for scanning to be offered.

Frequently asked questions

Why is it just called PANTUM?

That is how Pantum lists the iOS app. The Android app has a longer name, which is why cross-platform guides confuse people.

Why is it so large?

It bundles rendering components and firmware resources. At around 586 MB it is one of the largest printer apps around.

Is it still maintained?

Updates are infrequent; the last was May 2024. AirPrint is the more reliable route for routine printing.
