Pantum's Android app for printing and scanning from a phone

Pantum Mobile Print and Scan is the Android app for Pantum's laser printers and all-in-ones. It handles first-time wireless setup, prints documents and photos, scans from all-in-one models and shows toner status. Pantum splits its mobile apps by platform in a way that confuses people: the Android app has this name, while the iOS app is listed simply as PANTUM and is maintained separately. Use the Pantum app download page to get to the right listing for your platform.
Version and licence: Free, Android only. Note the naming split: the Android app is called Pantum Mobile Print and Scan, while the iOS app is simply called PANTUM and is a separate listing with a different feature set and update history.

How to install it
Step 1
Open the Pantum app download page and follow the Android link, or search Google Play for Pantum Mobile Print and Scan.
Step 2
Switch the printer on and, if it is new, leave it in wireless setup mode.
Step 3
Connect the phone to the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network the printer will use, since most Pantum models do not support 5 GHz.
Step 4
Open the app and grant the local network, location and nearby-device permissions Android requires for discovery.
Step 5
Choose to add a printer and let the app search, or connect to the printer's own Wi-Fi Direct network first.
Step 6
Enter your Wi-Fi password when asked so the app can pass it to the printer.
Step 7
Print a test page, then try a scan if the model is an all-in-one.
Which printers it supports
Pantum laser printers and all-in-ones with wireless support, including the P2500W, M6500 series, M6600 series and current BM and CM models.
When Pantum Mobile Print and Scan (Android) will not work
Android needs location or nearby-device permission for network discovery, so grant it. Confirm the phone is on the 2.4 GHz band, as most Pantum models have no 5 GHz radio, and turn off any VPN.
Reset the printer's network settings, usually by holding the Wi-Fi button until the light changes, then start setup again with the printer close to the router. Hidden networks and enterprise authentication are not supported.
The iOS app has a different name. Search for PANTUM rather than Pantum Mobile Print and Scan, since Apple's listing is a separate app.
Only all-in-one models scan. On those, make sure the printer is added over the network rather than by Wi-Fi Direct, since scanning is often unavailable over the direct connection.
Pantum estimates toner from page counts. Many models have a continue-printing option in the panel or app settings, and shaking the cartridge gently extends it further.
