The MX922 is something of a legend among Canon owners: a 2013 five-ink office all-in-one with duplex ADF scanning, two cassettes, Ethernet and a disc tray that many people are still running in 2026. It was cheap to feed thanks to XXL PGI-250 black tanks and printed photos surprisingly well. Every surviving unit is living on borrowed time for its absorber pads and printhead, and the B200 error is the most-searched MX922 problem by a wide margin.

Setting up the Canon PIXMA MX922

Ethernet is the most dependable connection for this age of printer; Wi-Fi must be 2.4 GHz with WPA2. Load letter paper in the lower cassette and photo paper in the upper one, then confirm sizes on the LCD. On Windows 11, install the archived MX920 series driver and the IJ Scan Utility; macOS users can rely on AirPrint for printing but need the Canon driver for ADF scans.

1. Unbox and prepare. Remove every piece of shipping tape and packing material, install the ink cartridges, and load paper in the tray.
2. Join your Wi-Fi. Keep the printer close to the router for setup. Most printers only connect to the 2.4GHz band, so if your router broadcasts one merged network name you may need to split the bands temporarily. See our Wi-Fi guide if it will not join.
3. Install the setup app. Use Canon's official app rather than a driver you found on a search result — third-party driver sites are the most common source of printer malware.
4. Add the printer. On Windows 11: Settings › Bluetooth & devices › Printers & scanners › Add device. On macOS: System Settings › Printers & Scanners › Add Printer.
5. Print a test page and run a scan if this is an all-in-one, so you find any problem now rather than when you are in a hurry.
