Organisations keeping an established badge printer running

The ZC300 is Zebra's mainstream ID badge printer for schools, offices and gyms, printing full-colour PVC cards on either side with optional magnetic stripe encoding. It uses drop-in ribbon cartridges and a simple card hopper, so non-specialist staff can run it. Colour banding and pale prints are usually caused by dirty rollers or cheap cards rather than the printer.

Best for: Schools and offices printing ID badges in-house
Download the ZC300 Windows or macOS driver from Zebra's card-printer support page and install it before connecting USB or adding the printer by IP. Badge design is done in CardStudio or a third-party ID app; the printer is not used with ZebraDesigner. Run a cleaning card through the printer every ribbon change to keep colour even.
The Zebra ZC300 uses the following consumables. Match the number exactly when you buy: the same printer family often uses several different cartridge numbers by region.
High-yield (XL) versions almost always cost less per page if you print regularly. On third-party ink and toner, read our honest assessment first, and note that some manufacturers push firmware that rejects non-original chips.
