INSTAX SQUARE Link app Download and Setup Guide
App for the instax SQUARE Link smartphone printer
Representative photo — 玄史生 CC0
The instax SQUARE Link app drives Fujifilm's SQUARE Link smartphone printer, which prints onto instax SQUARE film. It crops photos to the square format, adds frames, stickers and text, prints video stills, and includes augmented reality features that link a printed photo to a video on the phone. Fujifilm keeps separate apps for each instax film format, so the SQUARE Link app is distinct from the mini Link and Link WIDE apps and they are not interchangeable.
Version and licence: Free. iOS version 1.6.1 at about 345 MB. It is a separate app from the mini Link one, because the SQUARE Link uses instax SQUARE film with a different aspect ratio and frame library. About 345 MB on iOS.

When INSTAX SQUARE Link app will not work
Fujifilm publishes a separate app for each film format. Install the instax SQUARE Link app; the mini Link app will not drive this printer.
SQUARE film is a 1 to 1 format, so a standard phone photo loses a lot from the sides or top. Recompose in the crop screen rather than accepting the automatic crop.
Grant Bluetooth permission and, on Android, nearby-device permission. Switch the printer off and on and remove any stale pairing from the phone Bluetooth settings.
instax film has a narrow dynamic range and is affected by temperature. Brighten and add contrast before printing, use the film between about 5 and 40 degrees Celsius, and avoid deep-shadow images.
That is the protective cover sheet in every new pack, and it is normal. The film counter should then show ten.

Frequently asked questions
Can I use the mini Link app instead?
No. Fujifilm publishes a separate app for each instax format and they are not interchangeable.
Why does my photo get cropped so much?
SQUARE film is a square format, so a standard phone photo loses a significant part of the frame. Crop deliberately rather than accepting the default.
How many prints per pack?
Ten, plus a black protective sheet ejected first.
