The KODAK Photo Printer app drives Kodak-branded instant photo printers made by Prinics, covering the Mini and Mini Shot ranges and the Dock printers. It connects over Bluetooth or Wi-Fi depending on model, edits and crops photos to the print size, adds frames and stickers, and prints. Kodak licenses its name to several different manufacturers for photo printers, which is why more than one Kodak app exists: the older PD-480W and PD-450W use a separate legacy app called Kodak Printer Dock instead.

Version and licence: Free. iOS version 5.1.2 at about 90 MB, published by Prinics, which makes these printers under licence from Kodak. A separate legacy app called Kodak Printer Dock, with identifier id1119545082, covers the older PD-480W and PD-450W, so check which app your printer needs. About 90 MB on iOS.

What it does

  • Print photos from the phone to a Kodak Mini, Mini Shot or Dock printer
  • Crop and edit tools sized to the print format
  • Frames, stickers and text overlays
  • Collage layouts for multiple photos on one print
  • Bluetooth or Wi-Fi connection depending on model
  • Print from the phone camera roll or social accounts
  • Covers Mini 2 and 3, Mini Shot 2, 3 and 4 and Dock and Dock Plus

How to install it

  1. Step 1

Load the correct paper and ribbon cartridge for your model, since these printers use matched paper and ribbon kits.

  2. Step 2

Charge or plug in the printer and switch it on.

  3. Step 3

Install the KODAK Photo Printer app from the App Store or Google Play.

  4. Step 4

Enable Bluetooth and grant the app Bluetooth and photo library permissions.

  5. Step 5

Open the app and pair with the printer; some models also require joining the printer's own Wi-Fi network.

  6. Step 6

Select a photo, crop it to the print format shown, and apply any frames or edits.

  7. Step 7

Print one photo as a test, and keep the space behind the printer clear because these printers pass the paper back and forth several times per print.

Which printers it supports

Kodak Mini 2 and Mini 3, Mini Shot 2, Mini Shot 3 and Mini Shot 4, and the Kodak Dock and Dock Plus. The PD-480W and PD-450W use the separate legacy Kodak Printer Dock app.

When KODAK Photo Printer app will not work

The app cannot find the printer

Grant Bluetooth permission and, on Android, nearby-device permission. Some models require you to join the printer's own Wi-Fi network from the phone settings first, which means the phone loses internet access while connected.

My PD-480W is not supported

That model uses the older Kodak Printer Dock app, a separate listing. Kodak licenses its brand to several makers, so more than one app exists and they do not overlap.

Prints jam or stop halfway

These dye-sublimation printers feed the sheet back and forth several times, so leave clear space behind the printer. Also confirm the paper and ribbon are the matched kit for your model and that the paper is loaded the right way up.

Colours look washed out

Turn off filters in the app and print once with no correction as a reference. Dye-sublimation output has a distinctive look and the protective overcoat changes the finish, so it never matches a screen exactly.

The printer stops before the paper pack is empty

The ribbon runs out at the same rate as the paper in a matched kit. If prints stop, check the ribbon rather than the paper, and replace the whole kit rather than just the sheets.

Frequently asked questions

Why are there several Kodak printer apps?

Kodak licenses its brand to different manufacturers. This app, by Prinics, covers the Mini and Dock ranges, while other Kodak-branded printers use different apps entirely.

Does it need internet access?

No. Printing works over a direct Bluetooth or Wi-Fi link to the printer.

Can I print from a computer?

These printers are designed around the phone app. Some Dock models accept a direct phone connection, but there is no general desktop route.
