Kyocera Client Tool is the small desktop application used by Kyocera's GDI-based printers, the entry-level machines that do not run PCL or PostScript and instead rely on the computer to render pages. It shows toner status, provides scan buttons on multifunction models, and gives access to the handful of device settings those machines expose. It is not a general Kyocera utility: if you have an ECOSYS or TASKalfa with a full controller, you use the KX driver and Command Center instead. It ships inside the Product Library rather than as a separate download.
Version and licence: Free. There is no standalone download page; the Client Tool ships inside the Product Library package for the models that use it, so download that from your model's page in the Kyocera Download Center.

What it does
- Toner and device status display for GDI models
- Scan to file, email or application on multifunction models
- Configuration of the limited device settings these printers offer
- Maintenance functions such as cleaning and status pages
- Quick access to the print driver preferences
- Handles the scan button on the printer where the model has one
How to install it
Step 1
Confirm your model is a GDI machine, such as the FS-1020MFP, FS-1040, ECOSYS PA2000w or MA2001w.
Step 2
Open the Kyocera Download Center and enter that model number.
Step 3
Download the Product Library package for Windows.
Step 4
Extract it and run the setup application as an administrator.
Step 5
Choose a standard installation so both the driver and the Client Tool are installed.
Step 6
Connect the printer by USB, or for wireless models complete the wireless setup the installer offers.
Step 7
Open Kyocera Client Tool from the Start menu and confirm it shows the printer status.
Step 8
Set your scan defaults under the scan settings, then run a test scan.
Which printers it supports
Kyocera GDI models including the FS-1020MFP, FS-1040 and the ECOSYS PA2000w and MA2001w families.
When Kyocera Client Tool will not work
There is no standalone page. Download the Product Library for your specific model from the Kyocera Download Center, which contains it.
GDI printers are usually USB or basic wireless devices. Connect by USB directly rather than through a hub, install the driver first, and confirm the printer appears in Windows Printers and scanners.
The Client Tool must be running for the panel scan button to have a destination. Confirm it starts with Windows, and set the default scan action inside the tool.
GDI printers render pages on the computer and send bitmaps, so large or graphics-heavy documents are inherently slow and use a lot of network or USB bandwidth. Reduce the print resolution for drafts.
Only GDI models do. Full-controller ECOSYS and TASKalfa devices use the KX driver and the Command Center web interface instead.

Frequently asked questions
What is a GDI printer?
One that has no page description language of its own, so the computer renders each page and sends it as an image. That makes the printer cheaper but ties it to the host software.
Where do I download it?
Only inside the Product Library package for your model, from the Kyocera Download Center.
Is there a Mac version?
Support for GDI models on macOS is limited and varies by model. Check the model's download page, since some of these printers are Windows only.
