Home users wanting a compact Kyocera mono MFP for light use

The ECOSYS PA2001w is Kyocera's smallest wireless mono printer, a personal device for students and home users that replaced the PA2000w in 2023. Its host-based design means it depends on the Kyocera driver rather than standard PCL, so Linux and older operating systems are not supported. Running costs are low thanks to the separate drum, though the toner container is small.

Best for: Students and home users needing a tiny wireless mono laser
Install the Kyocera driver and Client Tool on Windows before plugging in the USB cable, then use the Client Tool's wireless setup to join Wi-Fi. macOS uses the Kyocera driver package or AirPrint once networked. The printer has no web interface of note, so status is read from the Client Tool or Kyocera Mobile Print.
The Kyocera ECOSYS PA2001w uses the following consumables. Match the number exactly when you buy: the same printer family often uses several different cartridge numbers by region.
High-yield (XL) versions almost always cost less per page if you print regularly. On third-party ink and toner, read our honest assessment first, and note that some manufacturers push firmware that rejects non-original chips.
