PrintHub is the utility that comes with Primera's colour label printers. It shows ink levels, runs print head cleaning and alignment, sets the label cost calculations, adjusts the sensor for the label stock and reports errors. It is model specific, so you download the build for your printer from that model's page on primera.com rather than from one general link. Two limits to note: the LX4000 uses a different, larger version, and there is no Windows ARM build, which rules out ARM-based Windows laptops.

Version and licence: Free, and downloaded per model from primera.com. The Windows version is 2.3.1 at about 14.1 MB for most models, while the LX4000 uses version 2.5.2 at about 28.5 MB. macOS builds are published per model. There is no Windows ARM support, so it will not run natively on an ARM-based Windows machine. About 14.1 MB, or 28.5 MB for the LX4000 version.

How to install it

  1. Step 1

Open the download page for your specific Primera model, for example the LX500 downloads page.

  2. Step 2

Download the PrintHub version listed for that model, since versions differ between models.

  3. Step 3

Install the printer driver from the same page first if you have not already.

  4. Step 4

Run the PrintHub installer as an administrator on Windows, or open the disk image on macOS.

  5. Step 5

Connect the printer by USB and switch it on.

  6. Step 6

Open PrintHub and confirm it shows the printer with ink levels, which proves communication is working.

  7. Step 7

Run the label sensor calibration for the stock you have loaded, then print an alignment page.

  8. Step 8

Set the cost per label figures if you want cost tracking.

Which printers it supports

Primera colour label printers including the LX500, LX600, LX610, LX910 and LX4000, plus related disc publishers that use the same utility.

When Primera PrintHub will not work

PrintHub will not run on my laptop

There is no Windows ARM build, so an ARM-based Windows machine cannot run it natively. Use an x64 machine, or a Mac with the macOS build for your model.

The version I downloaded does not match my printer

PrintHub is model specific and the LX4000 uses a different version from the rest. Download it from your own model's page on primera.com rather than reusing an installer from another machine.

Labels print off position

Run the label sensor calibration for your stock type, gap, black mark or continuous, and then the alignment routine. Getting the sensor type wrong is the most common cause of misplaced printing.

Ink levels do not show

PrintHub needs a working USB connection to read the cartridges. Connect directly rather than through a hub, and reinstall the driver if Windows shows the device with a warning.

Colours are wrong or banding appears

Run print head cleaning from PrintHub, then the alignment routine. If banding persists after two cleaning cycles, the cartridge or the head may be failing, and further cleaning only wastes ink.
