Is the Canon PIXMA TS5120 right for you?

The TS5120 was the first budget PIXMA to offer automatic two-sided printing and a real front cassette, making it a better fit for homework and reports than the TS3000 line. It uses PG-240 / CL-241 cartridges, which are the same series as the older MG3620, so many families already had spare ink. The duplex unit adds a second possible jam point, so pull the rear transport cover if code 1303 appears.

Setting up the Canon PIXMA TS5120

The 2.5-inch screen walks you through Wi-Fi setup directly on the printer; choose your 2.4 GHz SSID and type the password with the arrow keys, or use Easy wireless connect from Canon PRINT. Load plain paper in the front cassette and photo paper in the rear tray, and set the paper type on the screen when prompted. Align the cartridges from the Maintenance menu after installation.

1. Unbox and prepare. Remove every piece of shipping tape and packing material, install the ink cartridges, and load paper in the tray.
2. Join your Wi-Fi. Keep the printer close to the router for setup. Most printers only connect to the 2.4GHz band, so if your router broadcasts one merged network name you may need to split the bands temporarily. See our Wi-Fi guide if it will not join.
3. Install the setup app. Use Canon's official app rather than a driver you found on a search result — third-party driver sites are the most common source of printer malware.
4. Add the printer. On Windows 11: Settings › Bluetooth & devices › Printers & scanners › Add device. On macOS: System Settings › Printers & Scanners › Add Printer.
5. Print a test page and run a scan if this is an all-in-one, so you find any problem now rather than when you are in a hurry.
