The PIXMA TS8820 is the six-color photo all-in-one Canon USA announced in September 2024 at $299.99, and it most likely succeeds the popular PIXMA TS8320. Six inks instead of the usual four or five give smoother skin tones and gradients on glossy photo paper, which is why the TS8000 line has long been a favorite for family photos, scrapbooks and crafts. It still handles everyday print, scan and copy jobs, so it can be the only printer in the house. It suits photo-minded families and hobbyists who print regularly but do not want a large dedicated photo printer. Ink costs are higher than on a tank printer, so heavy document printers should look elsewhere.

Setting up the Canon PIXMA TS8820

Install all six inks in their color-coded slots and let the printer finish its initial preparation before connecting. Wireless setup starts at ij.start.canon or in the Canon PRINT app. For photos, install Canon's Easy-PhotoPrint Editor and choose the exact paper type loaded, since a wrong paper setting is the most common reason prints look dull or streaky. Download the full driver package on computers so scanning works in IJ Scan Utility. Check the ink numbers on the installed tanks before reordering.

1. Unbox and prepare. Remove every piece of shipping tape and packing material, install the ink cartridges, and load paper in the tray.
2. Join your Wi-Fi. Keep the printer close to the router for setup. Most printers only connect to the 2.4GHz band, so if your router broadcasts one merged network name you may need to split the bands temporarily. See our Wi-Fi guide if it will not join.
3. Install the setup app. Use Canon's official app rather than a driver you found on a search result — third-party driver sites are the most common source of printer malware.
4. Add the printer. On Windows 11: Settings › Bluetooth & devices › Printers & scanners › Add device. On macOS: System Settings › Printers & Scanners › Add Printer.
5. Print a test page and run a scan if this is an all-in-one, so you find any problem now rather than when you are in a hurry.
