The Sprocket 200 is a pocket-sized Bluetooth photo printer that spits out 2 x 3 inch sticker prints from a phone using heat-activated ZINK paper rather than ink. It is a fun gadget for scrapbooks and party photos rather than a real printer, and print quality is closer to a Polaroid than a lab print. Owners should run the blue calibration sheet that comes in each paper pack, and keep the battery charged because low charge causes faded or half-printed photos.

Setting up the HP Sprocket 200

The Sprocket uses the dedicated HP Sprocket app rather than HP Smart; pair it over Bluetooth from inside the app, not from the phone's Bluetooth settings. Load the paper pack with the blue smartsheet at the bottom, barcode down, and let it feed through on the first print. If prints come out with streaks, run the smartsheet again to clean the heating element.

1. Unbox and prepare. Remove every piece of shipping tape and packing material, install the ink cartridges, and load paper in the tray.
2. Join your Wi-Fi. Keep the printer close to the router for setup. Most printers only connect to the 2.4GHz band, so if your router broadcasts one merged network name you may need to split the bands temporarily. See our Wi-Fi guide if it will not join.
3. Install the setup app. Use HP's official app rather than a driver you found on a search result — third-party driver sites are the most common source of printer malware.
4. Add the printer. On Windows 11: Settings › Bluetooth & devices › Printers & scanners › Add device. On macOS: System Settings › Printers & Scanners › Add Printer.
5. Print a test page and run a scan if this is an all-in-one, so you find any problem now rather than when you are in a hurry.
