Is the Samsung Xpress C460FW right for you?

The C460FW introduced NFC tap-to-print to Samsung's colour MFP range and was sold heavily from 2013 to 2016. It uses the older CLT-406 toners rather than the CLT-404 set in the later C480FW, so check the part number before ordering. Because the engine is now more than ten years old, worn pickup rollers and a tired imaging unit cause most of the faded and streaky output people report.

Setting up the Samsung Xpress C460FW

Drivers live on support.hp.com under 'Samsung Xpress SL-C460FW'; the unified Samsung print/scan package for Windows still installs on Windows 11. Set up Wi-Fi from the control panel menu or through WPS, then confirm with a network report. Apple users can print through AirPrint without a driver, but TWAIN scanning on macOS needs the Samsung scan driver package from HP.

1. Unbox and prepare. Remove every piece of shipping tape and packing material, install the toner cartridge and drum unit, and load paper in the tray.
2. Join your Wi-Fi. Keep the printer close to the router for setup. Most printers only connect to the 2.4GHz band, so if your router broadcasts one merged network name you may need to split the bands temporarily. See our Wi-Fi guide if it will not join.
3. Install the setup app. Use Samsung's official app rather than a driver you found on a search result — third-party driver sites are the most common source of printer malware.
4. Add the printer. On Windows 11: Settings › Bluetooth & devices › Printers & scanners › Add device. On macOS: System Settings › Printers & Scanners › Add Printer.
5. Print a test page and run a scan if this is an all-in-one, so you find any problem now rather than when you are in a hurry.
