Is the Samsung Xpress C480FW right for you?

The C480FW was Samsung's last colour laser all-in-one for small offices, combining a 40-sheet ADF, fax and NFC with the slow-but-sharp 4 ppm colour engine. It was popular in the UK and Australia where it undercut HP and Canon colour MFPs. Typical support calls involve the scanner not being found on Windows 11 after a driver update and the imaging unit's life counter stopping printing at around 16,000 pages.

Setting up the Samsung Xpress C480FW

Install the 'Samsung C48x Series' full software suite from support.hp.com to get print, TWAIN scan and fax drivers in one package. Connect over Ethernet where possible; Wi-Fi setup can be done from the LCD menu under Network > Wi-Fi > WPS. Register scan destinations in the SyncThru Web Service and use Easy Document Creator on Windows for scan-to-PDF.

1. Unbox and prepare. Remove every piece of shipping tape and packing material, install the toner cartridge and drum unit, and load paper in the tray.
2. Join your Wi-Fi. Keep the printer close to the router for setup. Most printers only connect to the 2.4GHz band, so if your router broadcasts one merged network name you may need to split the bands temporarily. See our Wi-Fi guide if it will not join.
3. Install the setup app. Use Samsung's official app rather than a driver you found on a search result — third-party driver sites are the most common source of printer malware.
4. Add the printer. On Windows 11: Settings › Bluetooth & devices › Printers & scanners › Add device. On macOS: System Settings › Printers & Scanners › Add Printer.
5. Print a test page and run a scan if this is an all-in-one, so you find any problem now rather than when you are in a hurry.
