Is the Sharp BP-50C55 right for you?

The BP-50C55 tops the BP-50C range at 55 ppm with a 300-sheet single-pass feeder as standard, aimed at central reprographics and large open-plan floors. It is heavy, needs proper siting and is nearly always sold with a saddle-stitch or multi-position finisher. If your bottleneck is scanning rather than printing, the big feeder alone can justify the step up from the BP-50C45.

Setting up the Sharp BP-50C55

Plan the network configuration before delivery: static IP, DNS, SMTP relay and LDAP details in hand makes the install a single visit. Enable Sharp's audit log and end-of-lease data erase options in the security settings so the machine can be wiped when it goes back. Train staff to clear finisher jams using the numbered guides on the inside of the finisher door rather than pulling paper out of the stapler, which bends the stapling head.

1. Unbox and prepare. Remove every piece of shipping tape and packing material, install the toner cartridge and drum unit, and load paper in the tray.
2. Join your Wi-Fi. Keep the printer close to the router for setup. Most printers only connect to the 2.4GHz band, so if your router broadcasts one merged network name you may need to split the bands temporarily. See our Wi-Fi guide if it will not join.
3. Install the setup app. Use Sharp's official app rather than a driver you found on a search result — third-party driver sites are the most common source of printer malware.
4. Add the printer. On Windows 11: Settings › Bluetooth & devices › Printers & scanners › Add device. On macOS: System Settings › Printers & Scanners › Add Printer.
5. Print a test page and run a scan if this is an all-in-one, so you find any problem now rather than when you are in a hurry.
