The B3460dn is a 50 ppm departmental mono laser with a 550-sheet tray and a 20,000-page cartridge, aimed at offices printing tens of thousands of pages a month. It uses the same imaging drum as the B2360dn but a larger fuser and tray. Lexmark-style numeric codes appear on its colour LCD, and the region-locked toner catches out buyers of grey-import cartridges.

Setting up the Dell B3460dn Mono Laser Printer

Download the B3460dn PCL/PS driver from dell.com/support or use the generic Windows and macOS drivers. Set a static IP under Network/Ports on the panel, then add by IP. The embedded web server handles supply alerts and can email you when toner is low, replacing the discontinued Dell Printer Hub.

1. Unbox and prepare. Remove every piece of shipping tape and packing material, install the toner cartridge and drum unit, and load paper in the tray.
2. Join your Wi-Fi. Keep the printer close to the router for setup. Most printers only connect to the 2.4GHz band, so if your router broadcasts one merged network name you may need to split the bands temporarily. See our Wi-Fi guide if it will not join.
3. Install the setup app. Use Dell's official app rather than a driver you found on a search result — third-party driver sites are the most common source of printer malware.
4. Add the printer. On Windows 11: Settings › Bluetooth & devices › Printers & scanners › Add device. On macOS: System Settings › Printers & Scanners › Add Printer.
5. Print a test page and run a scan if this is an all-in-one, so you find any problem now rather than when you are in a hurry.

The Dell B3460dn Mono Laser Printer uses the following consumables. Match the number exactly when you buy: the same printer family often uses several different cartridge numbers by region.

• Dell 331-9807 (1V7V7) extra-high-yield toner (20,000 pages)
• Dell 331-9806 (C3NTP) high-yield toner (8,500 pages)
• Dell 331-9811 imaging drum (60,000 pages)
