The LabelWriter 400 Turbo is a mid-2000s Dymo that refuses to die, still printing address labels in offices that never saw a reason to replace it. It is not officially supported by the newest Dymo Connect releases, though many owners report it works with the older DYMO Label v8 software on Windows 10. Macs on recent macOS versions are the hardest environment for it.

Best for: Offices nursing an old but working address label printer
Try DYMO Label v8.7 on Windows first, installing the software before connecting USB. If that fails, Dymo Connect may still enumerate the printer as a generic LabelWriter. Expect no driver updates, and keep a spare 450 in mind if it stops being recognised after an OS upgrade.
The Dymo LabelWriter 400 Turbo uses the following consumables. Match the number exactly when you buy: the same printer family often uses several different cartridge numbers by region.
High-yield (XL) versions almost always cost less per page if you print regularly. On third-party ink and toner, read our honest assessment first, and note that some manufacturers push firmware that rejects non-original chips.
