HP LaserJet Pro 3001dw
Home offices and small businesses wanting a mid-volume duplex mono printer

The LaserJet Pro MFP M29w is the M28w sold under a retail-exclusive number, adding a flatbed scanner and copier to the tiny M15 engine. It is ideal for a home office that needs to scan the odd form and print mono documents without ever touching ink. Like its siblings it uses the 48A cartridge with a firmware-enforced chip check, and its 2.4 GHz-only Wi-Fi can be temperamental with modern routers.
Sold in United States, Canada. Sold as HP LaserJet Pro MFP M28w (same hardware) in United States; HP LaserJet Pro MFP M28w in United Kingdom; HP LaserJet Pro MFP M30w in India.

Best for: Home offices wanting the smallest possible mono laser with a scanner
Use HP Smart to join a 2.4 GHz network, or connect by USB to a PC first and push the wireless settings from there. Scan from HP Smart on a phone or from HP Scan on a PC; Windows Fax and Scan also works with the full driver. The Copy button on the panel makes a single copy immediately, and the ID Copy function is in HP Smart rather than on the printer.
The HP LaserJet Pro MFP M29w uses the following consumables. Match the number exactly when you buy: the same printer family often uses several different cartridge numbers by region.
High-yield (XL) versions almost always cost less per page if you print regularly. On third-party ink and toner, read our honest assessment first, and note that some manufacturers push firmware that rejects non-original chips.
