Tinkerers keeping an early colour laser alive on a Linux print server

The magicolor 4750DN was the last of Konica Minolta's magicolor line, a proper 30 ppm colour laser with auto duplex, PCL and PostScript. It shares its engine with the bizhub C35P and is far easier to keep running than the earlier host-based magicolors because standard drivers work on Windows 11 and macOS. Owners mainly see prompts to replace imaging units, the transfer belt and eventually the fuser.

Best for: Small offices with a late-model magicolor that still needs colour printing
Install the magicolor 4750DN PCL6 or PostScript driver from Konica Minolta's support site, or use the generic Windows and macOS PostScript drivers. Connect over Ethernet, set a static IP from the panel and add by IP. The web interface reports life counters for the four imaging units, belt and fuser so you can plan replacements.
The Konica Minolta magicolor 4750DN uses the following consumables. Match the number exactly when you buy: the same printer family often uses several different cartridge numbers by region.
High-yield (XL) versions almost always cost less per page if you print regularly. On third-party ink and toner, read our honest assessment first, and note that some manufacturers push firmware that rejects non-original chips.
