Ricoh's PCL6 Driver for Universal Print is the standard Windows driver for Ricoh fleets, covering a wide range of Ricoh printers and multifunction devices from one package. It queries each device for its trays, finishers and duplex unit, and it exposes Ricoh features such as locked print, user codes and stapling. Ricoh publishes three related packages that are easy to confuse: the traditional V3 PCL6 universal driver, a PCL6 V4 package built on the newer Windows driver model, and a PostScript universal driver for graphics workflows. The V3 PCL6 is the usual choice.
Version and licence: Free. The PCL6 Driver for Universal Print is at version 4.45.0.0, dated June 2026, at roughly 34 MB for x64. Ricoh also publishes a PCL6 V4 package, which uses the newer Windows driver model, and a PostScript universal driver. About 34 MB for the x64 package.

How to install it
Step 1
Open the Ricoh driver and utility page and choose the PCL6 Driver for Universal Print, or the PostScript version if your workflow requires it.
Step 2
Download the x64 package and extract it to a local folder.
Step 3
Run the setup application as an administrator and accept the licence.
Step 4
Enter the printer's IP address or hostname, or let the installer search the local network.
Step 5
Let the driver query the device so trays and finishers are configured automatically.
Step 6
If detection fails, open Printer Properties, Accessories or Device Settings and set the fitted options manually.
Step 7
Enter your user code in Printing Preferences if the device requires one for accounting.
Step 8
Set duplex and black and white as defaults, then print a test page.
Which printers it supports
Ricoh printers and multifunction devices across the current IM, IM C, P and SP ranges and many earlier Aficio and MP models. Some rebadged Ricoh devices sold under other names also work.
When Ricoh PCL6 Driver for Universal Print will not work
Ricoh devices commonly require a user code for accounting. Open Printing Preferences, find the job or user code field, enter the code your administrator issued and save it as the default.
The driver could not read the device configuration. Open Printer Properties, Accessories and tick the finisher, trays and duplex unit that are fitted, or enable SNMP so automatic detection works.
Select Locked Print in the driver and set a user ID and password before printing, then release the job at the device under Printer, Print Jobs. Some models also need a hard disk fitted for job storage.
The V3 PCL6 universal driver is the traditional choice and has the fuller feature set. The V4 package uses the newer Windows driver model and is better suited to modern deployment but exposes fewer options in some applications.
Ricoh publishes per-model macOS drivers from the same support site rather than a universal one. AirPrint also works for basic printing on most current Ricoh devices.
