Is the Ricoh IM C400F right for you?

A 40 ppm colour A4 MFP with a 100-sheet single-pass feeder, the IM C400F is the model most offices land on when they want copier reliability without A3. It supports the internal finisher, extra cassettes and card authentication, so it fits managed-print contracts cleanly. Buyers moving from consumer colour lasers should budget for the waste toner bottle and periodic maintenance kits, which are separate line items rather than included consumables.

Setting up the Ricoh IM C400F

Set a DHCP reservation, then complete SMTP, LDAP and card-reader configuration from Web Image Monitor before rolling out drivers. Colour drift after installation is normal; run Auto Colour Calibration and, if you print on mixed stocks, register custom paper types with the right fuser settings. Enable Locked Print in the PCL6 driver's Job Type tab so confidential documents wait at the panel instead of stacking in the output tray.

1. Unbox and prepare. Remove every piece of shipping tape and packing material, install the toner cartridge and drum unit, and load paper in the tray.
2. Join your Wi-Fi. Keep the printer close to the router for setup. Most printers only connect to the 2.4GHz band, so if your router broadcasts one merged network name you may need to split the bands temporarily. See our Wi-Fi guide if it will not join.
3. Install the setup app. Use Ricoh's official app rather than a driver you found on a search result — third-party driver sites are the most common source of printer malware.
4. Add the printer. On Windows 11: Settings › Bluetooth & devices › Printers & scanners › Add device. On macOS: System Settings › Printers & Scanners › Add Printer.
5. Print a test page and run a scan if this is an all-in-one, so you find any problem now rather than when you are in a hurry.
