Pantum makes some of the best-value mono lasers on the market, and the trade-off shows up in setup rather than print quality. The wireless configuration is less forgiving than HP or Brother, the app is not as polished, and the driver situation confuses people because so many third-party sites host Pantum files. This guide covers the three ways to get a Pantum onto Wi-Fi and the fixes for one that has gone offline.

Quick setup, in order

  1. Unbox fully, remove the orange shipping tape and the protective sheet from the toner cartridge, and load paper.
  2. Find your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi name and password. Pantum wireless models do not use 5GHz.
  3. Set up using the Pantum app on a phone joined to that 2.4GHz network, or press WPS on the printer and then on the router within two minutes.
  4. Print the printer's network configuration page from the panel or by holding the Cancel or Continue button, depending on the model, and note the IP address.
  5. On Windows 11, add the printer from Settings › Bluetooth & devices › Printers & scanners › Add device, or by IP if it is not discovered.
  6. Reserve the printer's IP address in your router so it never changes.

If your model has an Ethernet port and your router is within cable reach, use it. It eliminates band steering, WPS and address problems in one step, and Pantum's wired networking is straightforward.

Method 1: The Pantum app

  1. Install the Pantum app from your phone's app store.
  2. Join your phone to the 2.4GHz network you want the printer on.
  3. Turn the printer on and put it in wireless setup mode. On models with a Wi-Fi button, hold it until the wireless light flashes.
  4. Open the app and follow the add-printer flow. Grant the app the location and local network permissions it requests; without them it cannot discover the printer.
  5. Select your network and enter the password carefully, watching for capital letters.
  6. Wait for the wireless light to go solid, then print a network configuration page to confirm the address.

Method 2: WPS push-button

The fastest route on models with no screen, provided your router still has a WPS button.

  1. On the printer, hold the Wi-Fi button until the wireless light flashes, which starts WPS mode.
  2. Within two minutes, press the WPS button on your router.
  3. Wait for the wireless light to become solid.
  4. Print a network configuration page to confirm the printer has an address.

Many ISP-supplied routers have removed WPS for security reasons. If yours has no WPS button, use the app or the USB method instead rather than trying to re-enable it.

Method 3: Configure Wi-Fi over USB

This is the most reliable method and the one to use when the app fails. You connect the printer to a computer temporarily, set the wireless credentials from the driver software, then unplug.

  1. Download the driver and utility package for your exact model from Pantum's global site.
  2. Connect the printer to the computer with a USB cable and turn it on.
  3. Run the installer and choose the wireless setup option when offered.
  4. Select your 2.4GHz network and enter the password on the computer keyboard, which avoids panel typing errors entirely.
  5. Let the printer join, then disconnect the USB cable when prompted.
  6. Complete the installation so the wireless queue is created, and print a test page.

Downloading Pantum software safely

Pantum is disproportionately represented on third-party driver sites, partly because the brand is newer to Western markets and people search for downloads rather than going to the manufacturer. Use global.pantum.com, choose your region and search by the exact model number.

On Windows 11, note that Pantum models are increasingly covered by the driverless Windows Ready Print stack, so you may not need the vendor driver to print at all. You will still need the vendor software for scanning on the M6602NW, and for the wireless configuration method above. Our Windows 11 driver guide covers the choice.

Adding the printer on your devices

Windows 11

Open Settings › Bluetooth & devices › Printers & scanners › Add device and wait 30 seconds. If the Pantum is not found, click Add manually, choose Add a printer using an IP address or hostname, set device type to Autodetect and enter the address from the network configuration page.

macOS

Open System Settings › Printers & Scanners › Add Printer. If the Pantum appears, choose AirPrint or Secure AirPrint in the Use menu where offered; otherwise add it by IP with protocol Internet Printing Protocol - IPP. On macOS 15 and later, also switch on the relevant apps under System Settings › Privacy & Security › Local Network.

Phones

Android prints through the default print service or Mopria once the printer is on the network. iPhones need the model to support AirPrint; where it does not, the Pantum app handles printing instead.

Fixing a Pantum that shows offline

  1. Check the wireless light on the printer. Flashing means it is not connected.
  2. Print the network configuration page and compare the IP address with the one Windows is using: Printer properties › Ports.
  3. If they differ, the router has reassigned the address. Correct the port, or remove and re-add the printer.
  4. Create a DHCP reservation for the printer in your router so the address is fixed permanently.
  5. Restart the Print Spooler: press Win+R, run services.msc, right-click Print Spooler and choose Restart.
  6. Check the printer is not on a guest network, which isolates it from your computers.

Our printer keeps going offline guide covers reservations on common routers, and it is the permanent fix rather than a workaround.

Scanning on the M6602NW

On Windows, the scan driver is a separate component from the print driver, and installing only the print driver leaves you with a printer that scans from its own panel but not from the computer. Install the full package from Pantum, then use the Pantum scan application or Windows Scan. If the scanner is not detected over the network but works over USB, the scan component is either missing or blocked by security software.

Toner and running costs

Pantum's appeal is the running cost, and third-party toner for these models is widely available and generally works, since Pantum has not implemented the kind of cartridge restrictions HP uses. Genuine Pantum toner is also inexpensive by comparison with the major brands. If a cartridge is not recognised, reseat it and check for a protective seal still in place before assuming a compatibility problem. Our third-party ink and toner guide covers what to look for in a supplier.

If nothing worked

Test the printer over USB. If it prints on USB but never joins Wi-Fi, and both the app and the USB configuration method have failed, the wireless module or its configuration is at fault. Try a network reset from the printer's panel or by holding the Wi-Fi button as described in your model's user guide, then set it up again from scratch.

If the printer still will not join, be realistic about the economics. Pantum's advantage is price, and a bench assessment at roughly 60 to 120 US dollars, 50 to 100 pounds, 90 to 150 Canadian dollars or 100 to 180 Australian dollars can approach or exceed the cost of the printer. Using it on USB or Ethernet, or claiming under warranty if it is recent, both beat paying for a repair. Our repair versus replace guide has the numbers.

If the router side is where you are stuck, and splitting bands or reserving addresses is unfamiliar territory, you can get help from a printer specialist who can configure both ends in one session.

United KingdomPantum is sold widely online in the UK and through some office suppliers, and toner is inexpensive and easy to source. Use the UK or European section of Pantum's global site so the driver matches the model variant sold here.
CanadaPantum's Canadian retail presence is smaller than the US, so support is mostly online. Check that the model number on your machine matches the driver page exactly, since variants differ between North American and European ranges.
AustraliaPantum machines sold in Australia usually follow the European model numbering. Australian Consumer Law guarantees apply through the retailer, which matters on a low-cost printer where paying for repair rarely makes sense.

Frequently asked questions

How do I connect a Pantum P2502W to Wi-Fi?

Use the Pantum app with your phone joined to a 2.4GHz network, or hold the printer's Wi-Fi button until the light flashes and press your router's WPS button within two minutes. If both fail, connect the printer by USB and set the wireless credentials from the Pantum installer on a computer.

Does Pantum support 5GHz Wi-Fi?

No. Pantum wireless models use 2.4GHz only, so you must join a 2.4GHz network name or a merged name that includes that band. If your router steers devices between bands, set the printer up close to the router or give the 2.4GHz band its own name.

Where do I download Pantum drivers?

From Pantum's own global site, choosing your region and searching by the exact model number. Pantum files are widely repackaged on third-party driver sites, so avoid aggregators and anything that asks you to install a driver updater or disable your antivirus.

Why does my Pantum keep showing offline?

Almost always because the router gave it a different IP address and the Windows port now points at nothing. Print the network configuration page, compare the address with the one in Printer properties then Ports, and create a DHCP reservation in your router to fix it permanently.

Why can I print but not scan on my M6602NW?

On Windows the scan driver is a separate component from the print driver. Install the full package from Pantum rather than just the print driver, then scan from the Pantum scan application or Windows Scan. Security software occasionally blocks network scanning.

Can I use third-party toner in a Pantum?

Generally yes. Pantum has not implemented the cartridge restrictions used by some larger brands, and compatible toner for these models is widely available. If a cartridge is not recognised, reseat it and check that the protective seal has been removed before assuming an incompatibility.
