The MFC-T580DW, sold as the INKvestment Tank 580, is the entry model of Brother's first bottle-fed ink tank line in the US, launched in September 2025 and stocked at Best Buy and Amazon. Brother's earlier INKvestment printers use high-yield cartridges; this one is filled from bottles, putting Brother in direct competition with Epson EcoTank and Canon MegaTank. The 580 covers print, scan and copy over Wi-Fi with a 150-sheet paper tray. The INKvestment Tank 780 (MFC-T780DW) adds a 20-page feeder and automatic two-sided printing, and the 980 (MFC-T980DW) adds fax and Ethernet. It suits households that print plenty of color and want low running costs.

Setting up the Brother MFC-T580DW

Fill each tank from its matching bottle before powering on and let the initial ink charge finish; do not cancel it partway. Brother Mobile Connect handles Wi-Fi setup from a phone and shows ink levels. On Windows, install the Full Driver and Software Package from support.brother.com for full scanning features; Macs can print through AirPrint straight away. Because this is a new bottle system for Brother in the US, check the bottle part numbers printed in the box and buy refills listed for the MFC-T580DW specifically.

1. Unbox and prepare. Remove every piece of shipping tape and packing material, install the ink bottles (fill each tank to the upper line), and load paper in the tray.
2. Join your Wi-Fi. Keep the printer close to the router for setup. Most printers only connect to the 2.4GHz band, so if your router broadcasts one merged network name you may need to split the bands temporarily. See our Wi-Fi guide if it will not join.
3. Install the setup app. Use Brother's official app rather than a driver you found on a search result — third-party driver sites are the most common source of printer malware.
4. Add the printer. On Windows 11: Settings › Bluetooth & devices › Printers & scanners › Add device. On macOS: System Settings › Printers & Scanners › Add Printer.
5. Print a test page and run a scan if this is an all-in-one, so you find any problem now rather than when you are in a hurry.
