The Stylus Photo R2880 was a 2008 A3+ pigment printer using UltraChrome K3 inks, and fine-art photographers kept them going for well over a decade because the prints are archival. It needs its photo black and matte black cartridges physically swapped depending on paper type, which wastes ink, and it is USB-only. Working units today usually have had the waste pads reset and the head nursed through clogs; parts are scarce but the 96 cartridges are still made.

Install the archived driver from epson.com/support and connect by USB; there is no network. Use Epson paper ICC profiles from the support site for colour management. Swap between photo and matte black only when necessary, as each swap consumes several millilitres of ink.
The Epson Stylus Photo R2880 uses the following consumables. Match the number exactly when you buy: the same printer family often uses several different cartridge numbers by region.
High-yield (XL) versions almost always cost less per page if you print regularly. On third-party ink and toner, read our honest assessment first, and note that some manufacturers push firmware that rejects non-original chips.
