Colour-managed photo printing for SureColor photo printers

Print Layout is Epson's colour-managed printing application for photographers. It handles ICC profiles, rendering intent, black point compensation and soft proofing, and it lays out an image on the sheet or roll with precise borders, gallery wraps and crop marks. It runs standalone or as a plug-in from Photoshop and Lightroom Classic, which keeps colour management in one place. The iOS version is genuinely useful because it lets you drive a SureColor P700 or P900 from an iPad with proper paper and profile selection rather than the generic AirPrint path.
Version and licence: Free. Desktop version 1515 for Windows and macOS, iOS version 1.7.4. Built for the SureColor P-series; the iOS version also supports the SC-P700 and SC-P900 and the EcoTank Photo ET-8500 and ET-8550.

How to install it
Step 1
Install the printer driver for your SureColor or EcoTank Photo model first.
Step 2
Download Epson Print Layout for Windows or macOS, or install the iOS app on an iPad.
Step 3
Run the installer, and on macOS allow it in System Settings, Privacy and Security if it is blocked.
Step 4
Download and install the ICC profiles for the papers you use from the model's support page if they are not already present.
Step 5
Open Print Layout, choose your printer and then the exact media type loaded.
Step 6
Select the matching ICC profile and set the rendering intent, usually relative colorimetric with black point compensation for photographs.
Step 7
Turn colour management off in the host application so colour is handled once, then print a small test strip before a full sheet.
Which printers it supports
Epson SureColor P-series photo printers on desktop. The iOS version additionally supports the SC-P700, SC-P900, ET-8500 and ET-8550.
When Epson Print Layout will not work
Almost always a double colour management problem or an uncalibrated display. Let Print Layout manage colour and set the application to no colour management, calibrate the monitor, and use black point compensation with relative colorimetric intent.
Media types come from the driver, so install the current driver and any media installer offered on the model's support page. Third-party papers usually supply their own ICC profile and tell you which Epson media setting to select as a base.
Close Photoshop and run the Print Layout installer again so it can register the plug-in, then look under File, Automate or the Export menu depending on version.
Set the roll width in the app to match the actual roll, choose the borderless option only if the roll width is one the printer supports borderless, and check the auto cut setting so sheets are not trimmed short.
Grant local network permission to the app in iOS Settings and confirm the iPad and printer are on the same network. Print Layout only lists the specific supported models, so an unsupported Epson will not appear.
