Official source only. Every link on this page goes to Epson or an official app store. Printer-driver search results are a common malware vector, so never install a "driver updater" from an ad.

Epson Connect gives an Epson printer its own email address and a route to print from anywhere. Email Print prints whatever you send to that address, Remote Print installs a driver that prints to your printer from any internet-connected computer, and Scan to Cloud pushes scans straight to email or a cloud storage account. Registration is done once with the Epson Connect Printer Setup Utility on a computer on the same network as the printer. The service is free, but it depends on the printer keeping an outbound connection to Epson's servers on port 5222.

Version and licence: Free. Note that the 64-bit Windows Remote Print Driver filename really is RDP rather than RPD; that is Epson's own naming, not a typo on our part. Limits worth knowing: 20 MB per email and a maximum of 10 attachments for Email Print, and outbound port 5222 must be open for the printer to stay registered.

Download Epson Connect

What it does

  • Email Print, which gives the printer its own email address
  • Remote Print, which adds a printer queue that works from anywhere
  • Scan to Cloud, sending scans to email or cloud storage
  • Print from mobile apps and from Epson's web console
  • Access control so you can limit which senders may print
  • Works alongside AirPrint and Mopria rather than replacing them

How to install it

  1. Step 1

Connect the printer to your network first and confirm it can reach the internet.

  2. Step 2

On a computer on the same network, download the Epson Connect Printer Setup Utility for Windows or macOS.

  3. Step 3

Run it, select your printer from the list and choose Printer Registration.

  4. Step 4

Accept the agreement and let it send the registration to Epson; the printer will print a registration sheet or show a code.

  5. Step 5

Follow the link in the activation email to create or sign in to an Epson Connect account.

  6. Step 6

In the Epson Connect web console, note the printer's email address and set the access control list if you want to restrict senders.

  7. Step 7

For Remote Print, download and install the Remote Print Driver on each computer that needs it, then enter the printer's remote print code.

  8. Step 8

Test by emailing a small PDF to the printer's address.

Which printers it supports

Most network-capable Epson printers from roughly 2012 onwards, including Expression, EcoTank, WorkForce and WorkForce Pro. Check the Epson Connect site for your specific model, as very old and some entry-level models are excluded.

When Epson Connect will not work

Emails to the printer never print

Check the attachment against the limits, which are 20 MB per email and 10 attachments. Then check the access control list in the Epson Connect console, because if it is set to approved senders only, mail from any other address is silently discarded.

The printer shows as offline in Epson Connect

The printer keeps a connection to Epson on outbound port 5222. Business firewalls and some home routers with strict filtering block it. Allow outbound 5222 for the printer's IP address and restart the printer.

Registration fails in the setup utility

Run the utility on a computer on the same subnet as the printer, temporarily disable VPN and third-party firewalls, and confirm the printer already has working internet access by printing a network status sheet and checking the gateway and DNS entries.

Remote Print prints nothing

Remote Print needs the remote print access key from the Epson Connect console entered into the driver, and it needs the printer online. Re-enter the key, and confirm the sending computer can reach the internet without a proxy that blocks the Epson endpoints.

Scan to Cloud destination stopped working

Cloud tokens expire, particularly after a password change on the storage account. Sign in to the Epson Connect console, remove the destination and add it again to reauthorise.

Frequently asked questions

Does Epson Connect cost anything?

No. Email Print, Remote Print and Scan to Cloud are free services.

Why does my printer need port 5222?

That is the outbound port the printer uses to stay registered with Epson's servers. If it is blocked, the printer shows as offline in the service even though local printing works.

Can anyone print to my printer if they know the address?

By default yes, which is why you should set the access control list to approved senders in the Epson Connect console.

Is Remote Print the same as Email Print?

No. Email Print takes attachments by email. Remote Print installs a printer queue on a computer so you print normally from any application.
