Is the Epson EcoTank ET-2900 right for you?

The EcoTank ET-2900 is the entry all-in-one of Epson's seventh-generation EcoTank range, announced in July 2026 at $239.99 alongside the print-only ET-1910 and the ET-4903 with fax. It most likely takes over from the ET-2800, the long-running family favorite, and keeps the same idea: print, scan and copy with ink poured from bottles into front tanks instead of cartridges. Epson quotes 11 ppm black and 6 ppm color, and it has a 1.44-inch color display and Wi-Fi. Amazon US also lists an ET-2903, which appears to be a retail variant of the same printer. It suits families and students who print regularly and care more about running costs than speed.

Setting up the Epson EcoTank ET-2900

Fill the tanks before connecting anything, matching each bottle to its keyed port, and let the initial charge finish; the levels drop afterward and that is expected. Connect with Epson Smart Panel on your phone, which handles Wi-Fi, firmware updates and nozzle checks. On a Windows PC, download the full driver and software package from epson.com/support rather than relying on the basic Windows driver, so scanning works. Check the ink bottle number printed on the box before ordering refills, because the ET-2800's 522 bottles may not fit.

1. Unbox and prepare. Remove every piece of shipping tape and packing material, install the ink bottles (fill each tank to the upper line), and load paper in the tray.
2. Join your Wi-Fi. Keep the printer close to the router for setup. Most printers only connect to the 2.4GHz band, so if your router broadcasts one merged network name you may need to split the bands temporarily. See our Wi-Fi guide if it will not join.
3. Install the setup app. Use Epson's official app rather than a driver you found on a search result — third-party driver sites are the most common source of printer malware.
4. Add the printer. On Windows 11: Settings › Bluetooth & devices › Printers & scanners › Add device. On macOS: System Settings › Printers & Scanners › Add Printer.
5. Print a test page and run a scan if this is an all-in-one, so you find any problem now rather than when you are in a hurry.
