Is the OKI MC573dn right for you?

With a 7-inch touchscreen and OKI's sXP open platform, the MC573dn was the most capable A4 colour MFP OKI made for small and mid-size offices. Print quality at true 1200 dpi is a step up from the MC363dn, and higher-yield toners cut the cost per page. It is now discontinued, so check that the firmware is current and that your scan destinations work with modern SMB and TLS settings before relying on it.

Setting up the OKI MC573dn

Use the 7-inch panel to build one-touch scan buttons for the destinations staff use daily. Configure SMTP with authentication on port 587 and, for scan-to-folder, point at an SMB share on a server rather than an individual workstation. Update firmware if scan-to-folder fails on current Windows, since older builds negotiated only SMBv1, which Microsoft now disables by default.

1. Unbox and prepare. Remove every piece of shipping tape and packing material, install the ink cartridges, and load paper in the tray.
2. Join your Wi-Fi. Keep the printer close to the router for setup. Most printers only connect to the 2.4GHz band, so if your router broadcasts one merged network name you may need to split the bands temporarily. See our Wi-Fi guide if it will not join.
3. Install the setup app. Use OKI's official app rather than a driver you found on a search result — third-party driver sites are the most common source of printer malware.
4. Add the printer. On Windows 11: Settings › Bluetooth & devices › Printers & scanners › Add device. On macOS: System Settings › Printers & Scanners › Add Printer.
5. Print a test page and run a scan if this is an all-in-one, so you find any problem now rather than when you are in a hurry.
