Is the Ricoh MP C3004 right for you?

The MP C3004 was Ricoh's mainstream 30 ppm A3 colour copier before the IM C range replaced it, and it introduced the large Smart Operation Panel that carried forward. Second-hand units are plentiful and consumables are still stocked widely. The most common complaint from owners is colour drift as the machine ages, which is usually fixed by running the auto colour calibration and replacing tired development units rather than by adding toner.

Setting up the Ricoh MP C3004

Use the PCL6 Universal Driver for current Windows builds; the original MP C3004 driver packages predate modern driver isolation and can fail to install on Windows 11. From the Smart Operation Panel run Adjustment Settings for Operators and then Auto Colour Calibration after any toner or drum change. Older firmware defaults to SMBv1 for scan-to-folder, which modern Windows disables, so either update the firmware or use scan-to-email or FTP instead.

1. Unbox and prepare. Remove every piece of shipping tape and packing material, install the toner cartridge and drum unit, and load paper in the tray.
2. Join your Wi-Fi. Keep the printer close to the router for setup. Most printers only connect to the 2.4GHz band, so if your router broadcasts one merged network name you may need to split the bands temporarily. See our Wi-Fi guide if it will not join.
3. Install the setup app. Use Ricoh's official app rather than a driver you found on a search result — third-party driver sites are the most common source of printer malware.
4. Add the printer. On Windows 11: Settings › Bluetooth & devices › Printers & scanners › Add device. On macOS: System Settings › Printers & Scanners › Add Printer.
5. Print a test page and run a scan if this is an all-in-one, so you find any problem now rather than when you are in a hurry.
