Is the Ricoh IM C4500 right for you?

The IM C4500 is a 45 ppm A3 colour engine with a 300-sheet single-pass feeder, built for busy central print rooms and large departments. Very high toner yields and a 200,000-page duty cycle make the per-click economics attractive at volume. It is a heavy floor-standing machine that needs a dealer install, and its Always Current firmware model means IT should schedule updates rather than leave them to accumulate.

Setting up the Ricoh IM C4500

Register the machine with Device Manager NX or your MPS provider's tool so meter reads and firmware are handled centrally. Use LDAP for the address book and card authentication for release, and disable unused services such as FTP and Telnet under Web Image Monitor security settings. Scanning at 300 dpi searchable PDF is the practical default; 600 dpi colour scans of long documents will fill email attachment limits quickly.

1. Unbox and prepare. Remove every piece of shipping tape and packing material, install the toner cartridge and drum unit, and load paper in the tray.
2. Join your Wi-Fi. Keep the printer close to the router for setup. Most printers only connect to the 2.4GHz band, so if your router broadcasts one merged network name you may need to split the bands temporarily. See our Wi-Fi guide if it will not join.
3. Install the setup app. Use Ricoh's official app rather than a driver you found on a search result — third-party driver sites are the most common source of printer malware.
4. Add the printer. On Windows 11: Settings › Bluetooth & devices › Printers & scanners › Add device. On macOS: System Settings › Printers & Scanners › Add Printer.
5. Print a test page and run a scan if this is an all-in-one, so you find any problem now rather than when you are in a hurry.
