Is the HP ENVY 6155e right for you?

The ENVY 6155e arrived in September 2024 as part of HP's ENVY 6100e range and, at a $139.99 launch price, is the cheapest current ENVY sold in the US. It most likely takes over from the ENVY 6055e, and it sits below the ENVY 6555e, which adds a document feeder. HP's launch coverage highlighted Display P3 color support for printing photos edited on recent phones and laptops. It is a compact home all-in-one for families and students who print a mix of documents and the occasional photo. The "e" suffix marks an HP+ model, which means an HP account, a permanent internet connection and genuine HP cartridges are part of the deal.

Setting up the HP ENVY 6155e

Setup runs through the HP Smart app and needs an HP account; HP+ activation has to finish before the first print. Keep Bluetooth on so the app can find the printer and pass it your Wi-Fi password. Accept the first firmware update, then print the alignment page. Check the cartridge number on the setup sheet before ordering ink; other ENVY 6100e models use HP 67 in the US. If you do not want Instant Ink, decline the trial during setup rather than cancelling later.

1. Unbox and prepare. Remove every piece of shipping tape and packing material, install the ink cartridges, and load paper in the tray.
2. Join your Wi-Fi. Keep the printer close to the router for setup. Most printers only connect to the 2.4GHz band, so if your router broadcasts one merged network name you may need to split the bands temporarily. See our Wi-Fi guide if it will not join.
3. Install the setup app. Use HP's official app rather than a driver you found on a search result — third-party driver sites are the most common source of printer malware.
4. Add the printer. On Windows 11: Settings › Bluetooth & devices › Printers & scanners › Add device. On macOS: System Settings › Printers & Scanners › Add Printer.
5. Print a test page and run a scan if this is an all-in-one, so you find any problem now rather than when you are in a hurry.
