The ENVY 6455e stacks a 35-sheet document feeder on top of the 6055e, giving home workers a way to scan multi-page paperwork from the HP Smart app while keeping the quiet duplex engine. It is an HP+ machine, so the cartridge and connectivity conditions of that programme apply for the life of the printer. The ADF lid is tall and light, and it is the part most often found slightly open, which triggers copy and scan failures until it is pressed fully closed.

Setting up the HP ENVY 6455e

HP Smart handles setup, HP+ activation and the document-feeder scan workflow. The printer joins 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz networks, but a congested 5 GHz band can cause the app's scan preview to time out, so many owners prefer 2.4 GHz. To send a fax, use Mobile Fax inside HP Smart; there is no phone-line jack on this model.

1. Unbox and prepare. Remove every piece of shipping tape and packing material, install the ink cartridges, and load paper in the tray.
2. Join your Wi-Fi. Keep the printer close to the router for setup. Most printers only connect to the 2.4GHz band, so if your router broadcasts one merged network name you may need to split the bands temporarily. See our Wi-Fi guide if it will not join.
3. Install the setup app. Use HP's official app rather than a driver you found on a search result — third-party driver sites are the most common source of printer malware.
4. Add the printer. On Windows 11: Settings › Bluetooth & devices › Printers & scanners › Add device. On macOS: System Settings › Printers & Scanners › Add Printer.
5. Print a test page and run a scan if this is an all-in-one, so you find any problem now rather than when you are in a hurry.
