The OfficeJet Pro 7720 was the affordable way to print tabloid or A3 pages at home or in a small studio, combining a wide-format engine with a standard letter-size scanner and fax. It is popular with teachers, crafters and small design shops, and runs on the same HP 952 inks as the 8710. Owners should know that only the printer handles the large size; the scanner and ADF are letter-sized, and duplexing works on letter or A4 only.

Setting up the HP OfficeJet Pro 7720

Set up over Ethernet or 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi using the touchscreen wizard, then choose the paper size in the driver whenever you load 11 x 17 stock, because the tray does not auto-detect it. Extend the tray and rear output support for large sheets to avoid jams. Keep the printer powered so it can maintain the printhead automatically.

1. Unbox and prepare. Remove every piece of shipping tape and packing material, install the ink cartridges, and load paper in the tray.
2. Join your Wi-Fi. Keep the printer close to the router for setup. Most printers only connect to the 2.4GHz band, so if your router broadcasts one merged network name you may need to split the bands temporarily. See our Wi-Fi guide if it will not join.
3. Install the setup app. Use HP's official app rather than a driver you found on a search result — third-party driver sites are the most common source of printer malware.
4. Add the printer. On Windows 11: Settings › Bluetooth & devices › Printers & scanners › Add device. On macOS: System Settings › Printers & Scanners › Add Printer.
5. Print a test page and run a scan if this is an all-in-one, so you find any problem now rather than when you are in a hurry.
