The ENVY Inspire 7220e is the UK and European name for the Inspire 7255e and uses HP 305 cartridges rather than HP 67. It is the ENVY to buy in those markets if you want a touchscreen and a dedicated photo tray, and it is frequently bundled with six months of Instant Ink. Running costs are high on standard 305 cartridges, so owners printing more than a few dozen colour pages a month should weigh up the subscription or a Smart Tank instead.

Setting up the HP ENVY Inspire 7220e

Set up with HP Smart, choosing your country for the correct Instant Ink offer, and let the printer install its first firmware update. The touchscreen's Wireless Setup Wizard handles later network moves without the app. Keep the photo tray pushed back when printing on A4, and use the A4 borderless setting only with photo paper to avoid ink on the rollers.

1. Unbox and prepare. Remove every piece of shipping tape and packing material, install the ink cartridges, and load paper in the tray.
2. Join your Wi-Fi. Keep the printer close to the router for setup. Most printers only connect to the 2.4GHz band, so if your router broadcasts one merged network name you may need to split the bands temporarily. See our Wi-Fi guide if it will not join.
3. Install the setup app. Use HP's official app rather than a driver you found on a search result — third-party driver sites are the most common source of printer malware.
4. Add the printer. On Windows 11: Settings › Bluetooth & devices › Printers & scanners › Add device. On macOS: System Settings › Printers & Scanners › Add Printer.
5. Print a test page and run a scan if this is an all-in-one, so you find any problem now rather than when you are in a hurry.
