Is the HP OfficeJet Pro 8025e right for you?

The OfficeJet Pro 8025e is the HP+ version of HP's most popular mid-range office inkjet, bought in huge numbers for home offices since 2021. It brings fax, Ethernet, a 225-sheet tray and a responsive touchscreen at a price that is often discounted below two hundred dollars. The compromises are the HP+ requirement for Original HP 910 ink, a permanent printhead that throws 0x61 errors when it fails, and a single-sided ADF.

Setting up the HP OfficeJet Pro 8025e

Set it up through HP Smart with an HP account so HP+ activation completes; Ethernet is available if Wi-Fi proves unreliable. The printer must stay online to keep printing once HP+ is accepted. If a 0x6100004a error appears, power off, check the carriage path for packing tape or a jammed sheet, reseat the cartridges and power back on.

1. Unbox and prepare. Remove every piece of shipping tape and packing material, install the ink cartridges, and load paper in the tray.
2. Join your Wi-Fi. Keep the printer close to the router for setup. Most printers only connect to the 2.4GHz band, so if your router broadcasts one merged network name you may need to split the bands temporarily. See our Wi-Fi guide if it will not join.
3. Install the setup app. Use HP's official app rather than a driver you found on a search result — third-party driver sites are the most common source of printer malware.
4. Add the printer. On Windows 11: Settings › Bluetooth & devices › Printers & scanners › Add device. On macOS: System Settings › Printers & Scanners › Add Printer.
5. Print a test page and run a scan if this is an all-in-one, so you find any problem now rather than when you are in a hurry.
