New Printers for 2026: What HP, Canon, Epson and Brother Launched (and What They Replaced)

The main printer launches from the big four brands between 2024 and 2026 are Epson's seventh-generation EcoTank range, Brother's first US bottle-fed INKvestment Tank models, HP's OfficeJet Pro 8100e, ENVY 6100e and ENVY Photo refreshes, and Canon's imageCLASS MF280 lasers, PIXMA G4280 and TS8820. Most replace a popular 2021 or 2022 model, and the older one is often a better deal while stock lasts.

What counts as a new printer here?

This page covers home and small-office models that HP, Canon, Epson and Brother announced between early 2024 and September 2026 and that are sold in the US. Where a manufacturer did not name the model it replaced, we say likely and base the match on the model number and features. Launch prices are list prices at announcement; street prices usually fall within months, so check current pricing before you buy. Enterprise copiers and wide-format plotters are left out.

Office brands refreshed too, more quietly. The Lexmark MX632adwe, Xerox C325 and Kyocera ECOSYS MA4000wifx each replaced a model that many small offices still run.

What did HP launch, and what did it replace?

HP spent this cycle refreshing its cartridge all-in-ones rather than its tank printers. The OfficeJet Pro 8100e family arrived in January 2024, the ENVY 6100e and 6500e followed that September, and new ENVY Photo models were shown at HP's October 2025 launch event. For offices, the Color LaserJet Pro 3000 series landed in spring 2024, and new LaserJet Pro 4000 models were announced for May 2026.

Two HP gaps are worth knowing. We found no brand-new Smart Tank announced between 2024 and 2026; the Smart Tank 5003 that sells well on Amazon belongs to the existing US Smart Tank 5000 family. And the DeskJet 2955, Amazon US's second best-selling printer when we checked in September 2026, lacks the "e" suffix that normally marks an HP+ model, so read the box before assuming the subscription terms.

What did Epson launch?

Epson's big story is the seventh-generation EcoTank range. The ET-3950 and ET-4950 came first, in July 2025, and a lower-priced trio followed in July 2026, headed by the ET-1910, which Epson calls its most affordable EcoTank yet. Every model is filled from bottles rather than cartridges.

Outside the US the same hardware carries other numbers, such as the ET-3956 and ET-4956 in the UK and Europe and a long list of India L-series models. Our model pages list the regional names so you can buy the right ink.

What did Canon launch?

Canon's US home refresh came in two waves, September 2024 and September 2025, and our research found no new PIXMA or MegaTank models announced in 2026 as of September. The 2024 wave is the one most buyers will meet: a MegaTank with a document feeder, a six-color photo printer, a pocket photo printer and a new family of mono lasers.

One more Canon name deserves a mention. The PIXMA TS3720 ranked among Amazon US's top 20 printers in September 2026, and its UK and Japanese relatives topped their own charts, although Canon's US launch details for it were not confirmed for this page.

What did Brother launch?

Brother made the biggest strategic change of the four. In September 2025 it brought bottle-fed ink tanks to the US for the first time and renamed much of its inkjet range, so the box now shows a marketing name such as Work Smart 1360 or INKvestment Tank 580 next to the model number. Search Brother's support site by the model number, because the marketing name will not always find the driver.

Four trends behind the 2026 lineups

Bottle-fed tanks are now everywhere

All four brands now sell a printer you refill from bottles. Epson pushed EcoTank down to $159.99, Canon added a feeder and auto duplex to the MegaTank G4280, and Brother finally joined in with the INKvestment Tank line. Tanks cost more up front and far less per page, so they pay off for households that print every week. Subscriptions and HP+ still shape the cartridge models

HP's "e" models, including the ENVY 6155e and OfficeJet Pro 8125e, are HP+ printers: they need an HP account and an internet connection and accept only original HP cartridges. Retail bundles now compete on months of Instant Ink, such as the Best Buy OfficeJet Pro 8139e with 12 months included. Brother's answer is more ink in the box, which is the only difference between the Work Smart 1360 and the INKvestment 1365. Label printers are taking over Amazon's charts

When we checked in September 2026, about half of Amazon US's 50 best-selling printers were label, shipping or thermal printers, and the top spot belonged to a small Bluetooth label maker, the Nelko P21. The big four barely feature in that market, apart from Brother's P-touch range, which added the Bluetooth PT-N25BT in late 2024. Security is moving down to small offices

HP announced its 2026 LaserJet Pro models as the first printers with quantum-resistant protection. For most home offices, basic steps still matter more: change the admin password, keep firmware current and turn off features you do not use. Our printer security basics guide covers each one.

Should you buy the new model or the discounted predecessor?

Outgoing models are often discounted while stores clear stock, and the older printer is frequently the better deal. The hardware changes in this cycle are mostly modest: a feeder here, 5 GHz Wi-Fi there, a new cartridge series. Use the table as a starting point.

A few rules apply whatever you buy:

1. Check supplies first. Look up the ink or toner number for the older model and make sure several retailers stock it. A cheap printer with scarce cartridges is not cheap.
2. Be wary of long-shelved stock. Starter cartridges in a box that sat in a warehouse for years may dry out sooner, so check any date printed on the box or ink.
3. Confirm driver support. Make sure the manufacturer lists drivers for Windows 11 and macOS 26 Tahoe, or that the printer supports AirPrint and Mopria, which need no driver.
4. Compare warranties. New, open-box and refurbished stock can carry different terms; our printer warranty guide explains what each brand covers.

How do you set up one of the new 2026 printers?

Nearly every model on this page is set up through a phone app: HP Smart, Epson Smart Panel, Canon PRINT or Brother Mobile Connect. The app usually finds the printer over Bluetooth, sends it your Wi-Fi password and installs a firmware update before the first page. Have your network password ready, turn off any VPN on your phone, and let the update finish without unplugging the printer.
